This fun and welcoming course is designed for brand-new dancers—no partner or experience needed.
You’ll learn the essentials of Latin social dancing through two of the most popular styles: Salsa and Bachata. We’ll cover basic steps, rhythm, timing, and simple turn patterns — plus tips on connection and leading or following with confidence.
You’ll also learn how to recognize the music, understand the differences between Salsa and Bachata, and know which style to dance when the music starts playing.
Classes are upbeat, social, and beginner-friendly, giving you the tools to dance comfortably at parties, clubs, or social events.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a strong foundation to build on — and you’ll be ready to continue with Salsa or Bachata Level 1.

Intro to Salsa & Bachata
Do I need a partner?
No partner needed! We teach social dancing, which means we rotate partners throughout class. This helps everyone learn faster, makes it more fun, and is a great way to meet new people.
That said, if you're attending with a spouse or partner and prefer not to rotate, just let us know — you're welcome to stay together during class.
Registration is per person — each dancer should sign up using their own name, email, and phone number.
This helps us keep track of attendance and make sure everyone gets class updates.
If you're coming with someone, just make sure you both register separately.
Smooth soles are best! Dress shoes, leather soles, or clean sneakers with minimal grip work well.
Please avoid boots, sandals, Crocs, or running shoes with heavy traction — they make turning harder and can even cause injury.
Ladies: low heels are okay if you're used to them, but totally optional for beginners.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in — anything from your work clothes to athletic wear is fine.
You don’t need to dress up, just make sure you can move easily and feel good doing it.
Registration is for a full 4-week cycle, and classes meet once a week at the same day and time.
If you need to miss a class, just check in with your instructor — we may be able to arrange a makeup in another class, depending on space and level. We also post practice material online to help you review what you missed.
Our classes are designed as 4-week progressive series, so we don’t offer single-class drop-ins.
If you're interested in checking out a class before registering, email us at contact@columbussalsaclasses.com. If the timing is right, you might be able to experience the final week of a class or visit during one of our open houses before the next cycle begins.
We’re on the second floor of UA Fitness inside the Tremont Center: 2100 Tremont Center, Upper Arlington, OH 43221.
There’s plenty of free parking in the lot, but we recommend arriving a few minutes early — traffic in the area can get busy.
